Hans Spinnler

HS was born in Basel, Switzerland, on December 4th, 1934. He spent all his educational and academic  time in Milan, Italy. He got the degree of MD in 1959 at the University of Milan and thereafter the specialty degrees of Cardiology (1961), of Internal Medicine (1965) and of Neurology (1967).

Academic career

HS was lecturer in Neurology at the Milan University between 1975 and 1980, assistant professor between 1980 and 1985, and full professor from 1985 to his voluntary retirement in October 2006.

In 1993 he became the director of the Third Neurological Clinic of the Milan University at the St. Paul Hospital.

Whereas HS’ teaching activity was always devoted to general neurology, his scientific commitment was almost entirely directed to clinical neuropsychology.

HS enjoyed the collaboration of many over- and undergraduates. Only some of those who played a crucial role in HS’ scientific life will be mentioned here: Alan Baddeley, Erminio Capitani, Sergio Della Sala, Ennio De Renzi, Pierino Faglioni, Federica Lucchelli and Luigi Amedeo Vignolo.

 

 

In the course of his carrier HS gave many invited talks on neuropsychological issues.
Italian university departments, hospitals and scientific institutions where they took place were in Ancona, Arona, Bergamo, Bologna, Brixen, Caltanissetta, Catania, Chianciano, Città di Castello, Como, Cortona, Cremona, Ferrara, Fidenza, Firenze, Genova, Imola, Messina, Milano,  Modena, Napoli, Pavia, Padova, Palermo, Parma, Pisa, Roma, Salò, Salsomaggiore, Santa Margherita, Savona, Schio, Siena, Sorrento, Stresa, Taranto, Torino, Trento, Trieste, Urbino, Varallo Sesia, Venezia, Verona, Veruno.
